Although we normally cover books on this blog, the new Martin Scorsese film, “Silence” is an exception. View the trailer and read the full NYT article below.

The man in the novel was Sebastian Rodrigues, a Portuguese Jesuit priest sent to Japan in the 17th century. He was there to minister to Japanese Catholics suffering under a brutal regime and also to find out what had happened to his mentor, a priest rumored to have renounced the faith under torture.  (New York Times article excerpt)
